Bea Jones is happy to present this new selection of vibrant still life paintings, drawing on her delight in the vital, yet ephemeral, quality of flowers and fruit as subject matter.
As an artist, an award winning poet, writer and performing musician, Bea has worked across several decades in all these disciplines, reflecting the world around her through paint, words and sound. Here, she brings a new perspective to a time honoured subject matter, in which her freshness of vision is made available to a wide public.
Initially trained at the Wellington School of Art and Design, New Zealand, she subsequently completed her Diploma in Fine Art from the Byam Shaw School of Drawing and Painting, London UK, 1969.
Born in England and brought up in NZ, Bea has lived and worked in Australia for several decades, raising her family in the Hunter Valley NSW, before moving to Melbourne in 2000. She has exhibited widely in both solo and group shows, was a finalist in the Deakin Small Sculpture Award in 2013 and her work is in private collections in NZ and Australia.
