"These little paintings are the fruit of two weeks en plein air painting in September 2016 in Benabbio, a small town nestled in the mountains of Tuscany near Lucca.
Mornings and afternoons I’d set out to find new painting spots. The more I looked, the more paintings I saw to paint.
I like to observe and examine the defining patterns and shapes in my subjects, and to explore through line, colour and tone the play of light and shadow on the varied planes.
I hope my paintings capture some of the mood of this lovely pocket of Italy."
