Hamish Hill’s works encompass fine woodwork and creative designs in an assortment of intriguing timbers.
Sher Mannerheim’s oil paintings are large scale and colourful details of native flora, pods and seeds.
The idea for this exhibition came from Hamish who had been playing with designs of furniture for the modern house. Traditionally hallways were a formal point of arrival and departure where we greeted and farewelled as well as discarded or collected coats, bags, umbrellas, keys and other paraphernalia. The modern house often lacks a hallway, however the need for these rituals lives on.
Seeing Sher’s works on seeds and pods gave Hamish the idea to put together her paintings of the genesis of some of the timbers he used to create his works with his hallway series of furniture.
