MARY CAIA


MARY CAIA is a Melbourne based artist and illustrator who runs classes and workshops at Montsalvat. Mary came to Montsalvat in 2018, utilising her time here between a part time job to paint and run classes. Within a year she was here full time, feeling as though she had made Montsalvat her second home.


Mary offers fundamental drawing, oil painting focusing on the individual student and their preferred subject, she also runs Weekly Open Art Classes for anyone wanting to explore and develop a practise to suit their needs.

There are also two workshops to choose from “Images of the Imagination’ and ‘Mandala Art’ with instructions for the students to continue on their piece at home and the opportunity to attend the Weekly Open Art Day or for the Once a Month Catch Up Day for continual support on their creative journey.


Mary’s training background is a 3 year Diploma in Illustration at NMIT, two year Diploma in Yoga Teacher Training and Meditation, prior to the two formal courses, Mary attended many local classes over a period of ten years as she was raising her children. Mary has a wealth of knowledge and understanding of encouraging people and drawing out students full potential as creatives.

A lovely atmosphere is created in her studio “The Old Dining Room” with morning tea provided, and an opportunity to interact with other like minded students.
