Exhibition: TOXIC | Adelaide Worcester

TOXIC | Adelaide Worcester

WHEN: 2 - 27 JULY

WHERE: Residents Gallery

OPENING: Friday 4 July - 6pm - 8pm

TOXIC is a compelling new solo exhibition that uses sculpture and wall-based works to lay bare the often-overlooked realities of workplace bullying and toxic professional environments.

Through bold visual storytelling and a dose of dark humour, the exhibition explores how toxic environments are formed, experienced, and sustained.

At the heart of the show is a series of small-scale sculptures made from found objects such as kitchen tools and office supplies, creating scenes that are both intimate and unsettling.

These vignettes feature miniature figures caught in moments of silent aggression, unchecked power dynamics, and emotional strain. The use of familiar domestic and workplace materials reinforces the way these experiences bleed into everyday life.

Alongside the sculptural works, wall-based pieces examine the larger systems and cultural norms that allow toxic behavior to go unchecked. These works encourage viewers to consider their own roles in these environments—whether as targets, bystanders, or agents of change.

Both personal and political, TOXIC invites viewers to reflect on their own experiences—and imagine what more we can do to create safer, kinder environments.

Adelaide Worcester is a Canberra-based emerging artist working in mixed media, sculpture, and textiles. Her practice uses everyday materials to explore themes of power, trauma, and mental health.

Her work aims to disrupt silence and make space for empathy and meaningful change.
