Blacksmithing demonstrations:

Where | Sculpture Studio

Come and visit Montsalvat's sculpture foundry studio during the Winter Gathering on Sunday 6 July. Studio Artist Amanda Grant, accompanied by other members of the Australian Blacksmiths Association (Victoria), will be taking up hammer and tongs to demonstrate the craft of the blacksmith.

For 35 years, the Australian Blacksmiths Association (Victoria) has been teaching and preserving the knowledge and skills of this ancient craft. The Association runs blacksmithing courses for beginners to advanced metal workers. Amanda worked with the Association over a number of years to create the Blacksmiths' Tree in Strathewen, a 10m high stainless steel and copper gumtree that stands in memory of the 2009 Victorian Bushfires.

Studio Artists:

Mary Caia - Come and visit Mary Caia in The Barn Studio, where she creates her artwork and runs art classes.

Mary will be there working on one of her current pieces, alongside two of her talented students working on theirs.

It’s a great opportunity to see the artist and teacher in action, witness the creative process, and chat about art, classes, or simply soak up the atmosphere.
