VOLUNTEERING

Are you interested in becoming a volunteer at Montsalvat? Montsalvat enjoys a thriving volunteer program, and we’d love you to be a part of it!

Montsalvat was founded and built thanks to the hard work and generous spirit of volunteers. Today we continue that tradition through a community of volunteers who work closely with our staff to preserve and improve Montsalvat for our artists and visitors.

Volunteers take on a number of roles throughout the organisation, from working in our gardens and galleries, to assisting in cataloguing Montsalvat’s collection of artworks. Montsalvat is forever grateful to our volunteers for all that they contribute to our community.

Montsalvat is an Equal Opportunity Employer and we value and respect the diversity of our workforce. Applicants from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Please note, you must be 18 years or older to volunteer at Montsalvat.

GALLERY ATTENDANTS

With several different exhibition spaces, our group of gallery attendants play an invaluable role in introducing visitors to our exhibitions. This role provides volunteers with the opportunity to learn about each of our exhibitions, often directly from the artist, and to share their love of art with visitors to Montsalvat.

GATE ATTENDANT

An integral role in Montsalvat’s tourism department, the Volunteer Gate Attendant will be responsible for greeting and checking that visitors entering Montsalvat’s grounds have purchased a ticket. Successful candidates for the Gate Attendant position are responsible, reliable, and willing to work on weekends. Shifts will be of four hours duration (9am -1pm and 1pm – 5pm) on Saturdays and Sundays.

GARDENING

Montsalvat sits on 12 acres of land and our magnificent grounds have been greatly enhanced by the work of our gardening volunteers working closely with Montsalvat’s gardener, Jo. Some adopt a garden bed, while others take on general gardening tasks such as clipping edges and tending the cuttings in our glasshouse.

TOUR GUIDES

Being a tour guide at Montsalvat allows volunteers to learn more about the history of Montsalvat, how the buildings themselves were created and about the lives and work of the artists who use them. Tour guides provide tours to groups visiting Montsalvat, as well as weekend tours to the public during the warmer months.
